We suggest that you do not create a swap file greater than 20000 KB, as this can reduce the efficiency of Windows. [Refer to your Windows guide on Changing Swap-File Settings, by using the Control Panel]. Turn OFF any virus scanning programs and screen savers that might be running. Turn OFF ALL applications except for the 'Program Manager' (if you are running an alternate desktop, leave only your desktop program running). NOTE: Some desktops may not be compatible. We recommend using Program Manager. (Win 3.1 & DOS 6.x) Exit Windows and at C:\>, type MSD. Under 'Video' section, there may be a listing of the manufacturer of the video card or video chip installed on your computer. WARNING: Please note the brand of video driver that you are using. You may need to switch between alternate drivers. Video drivers are written for the brand of video card you are currently using, and we advise that you do not change brands of video drivers without first consulting the maker of your video card. Set screen resolution to 640x480 or 800x600. (Higher resolutions may cause the loss of "hot spots" and other screen information.) If you have 8MB of RAM, you should use 640x480 to conserve memory. [Refer to your Windows guide on Running the Setup Program or Setting Up Windows.] Set the number of colors to be displayed to 256. Some color cards (especially Cirrus Logic or Trident video cards) may require colors to be set at 65,536; 65,535; 64K; or 65K, depending on vendor. [Refer to your Windows guide on Running the Setup Program or Setting Up Windows.] If you still encounter a problem, try changing your video configuration to Microsoft's(TM) generic SVGA 640x480 256 color mode. You may encounter some graphic disturbance if you have an S-3 video card, a #9 video card or Cirrus Logic video drivers. You may encounter a problem when using Fisher-Price Great Adventures Wild Western Town on Compaq machines while using the Compaq wallpaper. We suggest that the wallpaper be turned off or set to NONE. If you have problems running on an Aptiva computer it may be due to the MWave sound card settings. Check with IBM's web page for any updates to the MWave sound driver or other fixes. PRINTING PROBLEMS: If you are having trouble printing, please be certain you are running the program with your system video set to 256 colors. Consult the manual for your system or video card for instructions on changing the video mode. VIDEO AND SOUND PROBLEMS: If you experience video or sound problems, please contact your computer or sound and video card manufacturers for updated sound and video drivers. Many Windows 95 and Windows 3.1 systems are more reliable running a variety of software when they have updated drivers for the sound and video cards. **************************************************************** (4) SPECIFIC TROUBLESHOOTING **************************************************************** If you are using Windows 3.1x and get the error: Director 6.0 Invalid Projector file: C:\WESTERN\WTOWN31.EXE you will need to turn off Share.exe to run the Program.
