Hardware Requirements Windows® 2000/XP/x64 Pentium® III 800 MHz or equivalent 128 MB RAM, 2.08 GB available hard disk space 12x CD-ROM drive DirectX® 9 DirectX 9-compatible 64 MB video card DirectX 9-compatible sound card It is recommended for all video cards that you obtain the latest drivers for best performance. You can likely download the latest versions of your video card's drivers from the website of the manufacturer of your video card. 2. Installation To Install: 1. Start at the Windows desktop. 2. Insert the Law & Order: Criminal Intent Disc 1 CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive. 3. When the start-up screen appears, select Install Game. 4. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the program. Note: Installing the game under Limited mode in Windows XP is not supported. If the startup window does not appear automatically, you can install the program manually: 1. Select the Start button on your Windows taskbar and choose Run. 2. Type " D:\SETUP.EXE " in the Open field. (If your CD-ROM drive uses a letter other than D, substitute that letter for D.) 3. Select the OK button and follow the on-screen instructions to install Law & Order: Criminal Intent. By default, Law & Order: Criminal Intent will install itself in the following directory: C:\PROGRAM FILES\LEGACY INTERACTIVE\CRIMINAL INTENT. You are given the option to select a different directory during the installation. To Play: After successfully installing the program, double-click the Criminal Intent shortcut icon on your desktop. Alternatively, click the Start button, then select (All) Programs, then Legacy Interactive, then Law & Order Criminal Intent, then Launch Law & Order Criminal Intent. Note: Running the game under Limited mode in Windows XP is not supported. You can access the player’s guide from the Law & Order Criminal Intent program group or from the start-up screen. To Uninstall: At the Windows desktop, select Start, then Programs, then Legacy Interactive, then Law & Order Criminal Intent, then Uninstall Law & Order Criminal Intent 3. FAQ (All FAQs can also be accessed online at: http://www.legacyinteractive.com/support) If you can’t get the game to start or if you get a black screen after the introductory video of the crime scene… There may be a problem with your video card working with the game. - - Make sure to update your video drivers (directions below). - - Make sure you have the latest version of DirectX. It can be downloaded from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.aspx. If your entire game is very slow or freezes after playing for a while… - Make sure you meet the minimum system requirements for the game. Specifically, make sure you have at least a 64 MB DirectX compatible video card, at least 128 MB of system memory, and at least 2 GB free disk space on the hard drive. - In the game, select Options from the Main Menu and turn off background animations and select low quality shadows. - Close down all other applications when running the program. If other programs are interrupting your game… It is strongly recommended to turn off all background applications when running graphically intensive programs. Background applications include such things as System Agent, Internet chat utilities, virus checkers, firewalls and screen savers. Crash guard programs such as First Aid for Windows can also cause problems. If you are still having problems getting the game to work correctly… First, update your drivers. You should update your video card and audio card drivers often. Check with the manufacturer of your system or card to obtain the latest drivers. The majority of them have websites where the latest drivers can be downloaded for no charge, along with instructions on how to properly update their particular hardware. Also, make sure your version of Windows is up-to-date. Microsoft's Windows Update page is: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com If your sound is stuttering… Be sure you have hardware and sound acceleration turned on. To turn on sound acceleration, go to your start button, select “run,” then type in “dxdiag,” select the “sound” tab, and pull the acceleration slider to the right. To turn on graphics acceleration, go to the “display” tab and be sure all of the DirectX acceleration features are enabled. If you've found out about another character, but their name didn't appear on the map... It may be that their name is on the map, but you have not seen it. Be sure to scroll up and down on the map so you can see all of it it. Also check your phone, as some witnesses can only be reached by phone. If you need tips or hints...
